a historic escape
Originally known as Cold Spring Ranch, named for its naturally icy spring, The Dorrington Hotel was built in 1852 by John Gardner. John brought his wife, Rebecca Dorrington, from Scotland, and together they created a welcoming stop for travelers. Over the years, the hotel served as a depot for stockmen and offered lodging to visitors exploring the majestic Giant Sequoias at Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
